These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Longhand Budget (the "Service"). The Service is operated by Lucas Silbernagel, an individual based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Longhand Budget is a personal-finance planning tool. It provides budgeting, calculation, and forecasting features. The Service is offered in a free tier and a paid "Premium" tier as described on our Pricing page.
2. Accounts
You can use the free tier without an account. Premium features require an account, which you create and access by signing in with a magic link sent to your email. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure and for all activity under your account.
3. Payments and subscriptions
Premium subscriptions are sold and processed by Paddle.com, who act as the Merchant of Record for all purchases. This means Paddle — not us directly — is the seller of record, collects payment and any applicable taxes, and handles billing. By subscribing you also agree to Paddle's buyer terms. Subscription pricing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are described on our Pricing and Refund & Cancellation Policy pages.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to disrupt it, access it through unauthorised means, or use it to violate any law. We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms.
5. Not financial advice
Longhand Budget is an informational tool only. The figures, projections, and forecasts it produces are estimates based on the inputs and assumptions you provide, and do not constitute financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. You should consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
6. Your data
Free-tier data stays on your device. Premium data is stored on EU-based infrastructure as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including decisions made based on its calculations.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. This is without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights of your country of residence — if you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep the local protections that cannot be waived by contract.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
10. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be raised through our contact form.
